Job Description

  • Equipment Operator-Laborers report to the Foreman at the yard and job site regarding day-to-day loads & cargo, tasks/duties, materials, production, injuries/incidents and to call-out for the day
  • Equipment Operator-Laborers report to the Production Manager for prescheduling all paid-time-off and/or non-paid-time-off requests
  • Equipment Operator-Laborers report equipment, machinery and tool issues, break-downs and defects to Shop Manager
  • Inspect that equipment is safe to operate, including but not limited to checking equiment exterior and interior
  • Loading and unloading equipment, material and tools from tool trucks and trailers at the yard and at jobsites throughout the day
  • Ensure and double check that loaded trailers and trucks have equipment is safely and properly secured
  • Set up equipment and tools as needed on the job site
  • Operating equipment safely on the job site
  • Setting up barricades with traffic deliniaters, cones, safety/caution tape or string & ribbon to secure job site area so that area is easily visible to pedestrians and vehicles
  • Directing traffic away and around the secured job site for safety of workers and general public
  • Preparing job sites, cleaning with blowers and large brooms
  • Shoveling hot asphalt, rock base and dirt
  • Using a squeegee to spread seal coat
  • Running equipment such as compressors, whackers and jumping-jacks with safety and precision
  • General clean-up of job site to include shoveling, blowing, sweeping and cleaning

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in the Random Drug Testing Program
  • Pass all random drug testing
  • Physical ability to drive and operate equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate equipment, tools and machinery
  • Physical ability to lift tools, machinery and equipment onto and off of work trucks and trailers
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Excellent coordination between hands, eyes and feet to guide oneself, tools, machinery and equipment with accuracy through safety sensitive job sites
  • Fast reflexes and constant alertness, due to risks of working with equipment, hot asphalt, open trenches and in-and-around areas where heavy equipment is used
  • Good depth perception
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances out on the road and in the field
  • Wear a seatbelt when operating equipment
  • Wear protective gear such as gloves, safety-glasses, ear-plugs, enclosed steel toe shoes, safety vests and hard hats as required for the job site and/or operating tools, equipment and machinery
  • Availability to work Monday through Saturday, and occasionally on nights or Sundays with notice
  • Consistent and reliable attendance and punctuality
    When Company operating requirements or other needs cannot be met during regular working hours, employees may be scheduled to work overtime hours. When possible, advance notification of these mandatory assignments will be provided. All overtime work must receive the supervisor’s prior authorization.
  • Willingness to perform job duties as described in a timely, professional and safe manner.
