Career Paths:

Estimator & Project Manager

Estimating & Project Management Requirements and Duties include:

  • Prospect for new business by visiting property managers and proposing new paving projects.
  • Position requires making assigned or self-generated sales calls.
  • Accurately completing plan take-offs, and estimating to prepare a bid package or written proposal for customer.
  • Estimator will manage all aspects of jobs from close of sale through completion of work.
  • Assist with project operations management as needed.
  • Create precise estimates using your attention to detail and asphalt expertise.
  • Maintain relationships with key contacts in the construction industry.
  • Build a faithful client portfolio that generates repeat business and referrals.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role required.
  • Professional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in general computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • This position involves lots of driving throughout Southern California, a clean DMV driving record is required.

Other qualities and success factors that will benefit the person for this position are:

  • Ability to read blue prints and specifications.
  • Efficiency and organization.
  • Tradeshow presentation knowledge and background.
  • Experience in estimating and operations management is a plus.

Compensation is base salary with commission that is tied directly to the quantity and performance of projects sold. Benefits include a car allowance or company vehicle after trial period and a company mobile phone.

Class A Driver

Job Description

  • Class A Driver Laborers report to the Foreman at the yard and job site regarding day-to-day loads & cargo, tasks/duties, materials, production, injuries/incidents and to call-out for the day
  • Inspect that vehicle is safe to operate, including but not limited to checking vehicle exterior and interior and checking tires
  • Loading and unloading equipment, material and tools from tool trucks and trailers at the yard and at jobsites throughout the day
  • Ensure and double check that loaded trailers and trucks have equipment is safely and properly secured
  • Driving safely on the road to and from job site, material pick-up locations and dump drop-offs throughout the day as needed
  • Set up equipment and tools as needed on the job site
  • Equipment to include, but not limited to: striping machines, rakes, brooms, blowers, delineators, traffic cones, traffic arrow boards, rollers, tractors, skip loaders, skid steers etc.
  • Setting up barricades with traffic delineators, cones, safety/caution tape or string & ribbon to secure job site area so that area is easily visible to pedestrians and vehicles
  • Directing traffic away and around the secured job site for safety of workers and general public
  • Preparing job sites, cleaning with blowers and large brooms
  • Running equipment such as compressors, whackers and jumping jacks with safety and precision General clean-up of job site to include shoveling, blowing, sweeping and cleaning

Requirements:

  • CA DMV Class A license with a clean and insurable driving record
  • Enrollment in the Random Drug Testing Program
  • Pass all random drug testing
  • Physical ability to drive Class A vehicles
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate vehicles, tools, machinery and equipment
  • Physical ability to lift tools, machinery and equipment onto and off work trucks and trailers
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Excellent coordination between hands, eyes and feet to guide oneself, tools, machinery and equipment with accuracy through safety sensitive job sites
  • Fast reflexes and constant alertness, due to risks of working with vehicles, hot asphalt, open trenches and in-and-around areas where heavy equipment is used
  • Good depth perception
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances out on the road and in the field
  • Wear a seatbelt, and ensure that all passengers, if any, are wearing seatbelts in company vehicles at all times
  • Wear protective gear such as gloves, safety-glasses, ear-plugs, enclosed steel toe shoes, safety vests and hard hats as required for the job site and/or operating tools, equipment and machinery
  • Availability to work Monday through Saturday, and occasionally on nights or Sundays with notice
  • Consistent and reliable attendance and punctuality
  • When Company operating requirements or other needs cannot be met during regular working hours, employees may be scheduled to work overtime hours. When possible, advance notification of these mandatory assignments will be provided. All overtime work must receive the supervisor’s prior authorization.
  • Willingness to perform job duties as described in a timely, professional and safe manner.
